SUMMER CAMP STAFF POSITIONS AVAILABLE

An outstanding staff is being assembled to help provide a super experience for our Scouts at Camp Sol Mayer this summer according to Don Cheek, 1999 Summer Camp Director.  Being a member of a camp staff is an excellent opportunity to serve Scouting, have a truly unique summer and earn some money.  Several openings are still available.

Counselors-in-Training (C.I.T.) should be 14-15 years of age.  Paid Camp staff positions should be Scouts are at least 16 or older. Older Scouts and college students are ideal for staff positions.  Scoutmasters are asked to encourage their troop members to apply.  For an application call the Scout Office at 655-7107 or call 800 321-7107.

SUMMER CAMP
1999

The 1999 Concho Valley Summer Camp will be held at Camp Sol Mayer this year.  Staff Training starts June 1st; Week One starts June 6th, Week Two on June 13th, and Week Three on June 20th.  Week Four of Summer Camp is reserved for the new Venture Camp. Boy Scout Troops will not attend this week.

Summer Camp attendance helps your troop.  Boys who attend summer camp are three times as likely to advance a rank, four times as likely to stay in the troop, and twenty times more likely to earn their Eagle as boys who do not go to camp.

Summer Camp this year is geared toward the new advancement requirements which take effect April 1st.  There will be several new merit badges offered as well as the “old faithfuls.”   Also, an Order of the Arrow candidate must be called out before he can participate in his ordeal; Summer Camp is the ideal setting for the Callout, and will be offered every week.
