This years District Award of Merit recipient was Freida Zuberbueler, Unit Commissioner from Troop 58. Her outstanding service to Scouting and the community has helped to encourage all those around her. So it is with great pleasure that the Permian Basin bestow on her the District Award of Merit. It is due to volunteer hard work and time that Scouting is possible in the Permian Basin; so thank you to all the volunteers of the Permian Basin District for a job well done in 2008. If you are interested in hosting the next District Banquet in your community you may contact me @ for information on how to make it possible. The Permian Basin would be more than happy to hear your ideas and thoughts. Quality Units 2008 - Congratulations to all the recipients of the 2008 Quality Unit Award. As we begin 2008 I will be coming around to help you fill out new Quality Unit Award Commitments. I will be getting with Unit Leaders and Unit Commissioners in the next few weeks to get these completed and signed. 2008 Centennial Quality Units: Pack 19 , Troop 19, Pack 18, Troop 57, Pack 153, Troop 153, Pack 155, Troop 58, Pack 154, Troop 54, Pack 149, Pack 420, Troop 420, and Crew 54. Volunteer Help Need for Mom & Me Camp—The search is on for volunteers and Boy Scout Troops willing to help with the Mom & Me Cub Scout Camp. We are also in search of a Medic (LVN or Licensed EMT) and a few adults over 21 years of age to help with our water front activities and swimming area. Lodging is provided along with food and a good time. Please contact me at for more information or if your troop is interested in helping out!!!! Recharters Due for 2009 - As a reminder to all Units, all recharters are due! Any recharters not yet received by the council office are at this time in lapsed status and membership is expired for all members of the unit. If you are in need of assistance in getting these completed, please contact me for help. It is important that we get all remaining recharters and fees into the council office as soon as possible. If you are not sure of the status of your recharter please contact the council office. Permian Basin District Pinewood Derby - March 7, 2009 -This years Pinewood Derby will be held in Ozona, Texas. It is being chaired by Benny Logan of Pack #153. The event will begin at 2:00 p.m. and food will be provided.
