PROGRAM

Concho Valley Council 2009 Boy Scout Camporee
A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY
Hosted by Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, Texas
April 17 – 18

Scouters, this is an opportunity to have your scouts see and witness some things that they may never have a chance to see again. I encourage you to offer this once in a lifetime Camporee to your Scouts.

Potential base activities to be demonstrated are static aircraft display, pilot talks, visiting of flight simulators, working dog demonstration, fire department demos, shotgun shooting and flight control tower demonstrations just to mention a few. The wonderful people at Laughlin AFB have opened their doors to demonstrate these activities to our Scouts and Scouters. Come on and be a part of it.

WHO HAS THE BEST CAMPSITE?
All troops are encouraged to set up a model campsite and one camp gadget to be judged for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies.

OA and Venturing Crew members:
There will be a need for volunteers to help staff this Camporee. Please use contact information below to volunteer.

Things to know:

  • There will be certain regulations that we will need to abide by.
  • One thing to anticipate is accurate access lists for each troop.
  • Each driver will have to show a current drivers license and proof of insurance and each adult will need a picture ID.  Every person admitted on base will need to be on the listing from each troop prior to entering the base.
  • Cars, vans, and trailers will be searched as they enter the base.  Folks just need to anticipate it.
  • No open fires will be permitted, prepare to cook on camp stoves only. Each troop needs to be prepared to feed two to three staff members.

Yours in Scouting,
Bo Strickland
Camporee Chairman
