EXECUTIVE BOARD

Concho Valley Council Volunteers,
Recently I had the opportunity to send out letters to past Friends of Scouting supporters of our Council.  I spoke about how it is customary to count our blessings as we enter the holiday season and of course number one on that list is the 1,100 plus adult volunteers who have given tens of thousands of hours to serve the youth of our area.

One of the key elements the volunteers have performed this year has been on recruitment of new scouts.  The volunteers this year are the driving force that has steered the Fall Recruitment campaign, "The Drive to A Championship Cup", on the right track to achieve success.  (Please review the chart to see how we are progressing towards our goals).  Of course the Fall Recruitment is not over but I fully expect the volunteers will continue to make the difference this year in the Concho Valley Council reaching its goals in the Fall Recruitment campaign.

I just want to express my appreciation to all the volunteers who make a difference for our boys and the Concho Valley Council.

Yours in Scouting,
Michael Jenike,
Volunteer & Council Membership Chair

The Tenth Annual Boy Scout Shootout
The Sporting Clays shoot sponsored by Creek Services of Sonora was a success!  More than 130 shooters participated and even the rain in the last 30 minutes did not dampen the fun.  Breakfast by ASU Meats team, 100 clay birds (and shot shells), a BBQ lunch by Charlie Blanek and a good rain were the order of the day. More than a dozen individuals won $850 gift certificates!

Thanks to all those sponsors, especially David Creek, who made this event possible as well as successful for the council.  A special round of thanks goes to all those parents, scouts, and scouters who showed up in uniform to help with registration, scoring, trapping, clean up and the auction. Your presence reminded all those who participated what they were there for and helped to make the auction one of the most successful in ten years.

Your Council Board thanks you for all you do and especially for your help with this event.  Make plans to join us late next August for the 11th  Annual Shoot Out…if you missed this one, you sure don’t want to miss the next!

Steve Salmon, Council Finance Chair
