BSA Council ScoutParents Initiative Funding and Execution
By Gerald I. Lawhorn, Founder and Sponsor of ScoutParents

I urge all Scouters to to visit www.scoutparents.org. The ScoutParents Motto = Make It SO!

  • The Boy Scouts of America's National ScoutParents Initiative helps maximize the quality of program for every unit and provide it to every eligible youth.
  • ScoutParents helps year-round to enhance youth, parent and mentor recruitment, retention, enthusiasm, achievement and The GREAT Family FUN of Scouting! with a passionate commitment by all who participate. ScoutParents Mission = "It"
  • With no BSA council funding or excessive BSA professional time required, the ScoutParents mission is to develop and implement methods which encourage and empower Scouting participants to help maximize the number of Dedicated Scouting youth and parents and mentors as Dedicated Scouting volunteers who participate with their Scouts.
  • The mission is the foundation from which all ScoutParents methods are developed and includes the promotion of parental understanding, involvement and commitment with a sincere appreciation of Scouting.
  • ScoutParents assists the Boy Scouts of America in defining itself to the United States of America GREAT and focuses on actively presenting the importance of Scouting being relevant in the development of youth for today's families. ScoutParents 2010 Marketing and Action Plan = "It" The ScoutParents 2010 marketing and action plan has two primary objectives:
  • To develop, produce, promote, offer and execute GREAT Scouting through ProScouting marketing plans, resources and sponsored materials for Scouting participants to utilize year-round in order to maximize the quality of program for every unit and to provide it to every eligible youth; and
  • To assist Scouting family members, volunteers including Scouting FamilyTeams and BSA professionals in their retention of existing Scouting participants, promotion to and registering of 1,000,000 + additional Dedicated Scouting youth and recruitment of 1,000,000 + additional adults as ScoutParents or other Dedicated Scouting volunteers by May 2010.

A new Unit Position is now available called "Unit ScoutParents Coordinator".  This person represents ScoutParents for their unit.  Any volunteer who registers in this position will receive a tan book bag with the ScoutParents Logo.  We have a good supply but while supplies last.  For more information, call Devin Koehler at the Council Office.

Amangi Trail District Executive, Jim Bright, Notes:
I have had the opportunity to meet many of our cub and troop leaders and I am eager to meet with more.  If I show up at your meeting just know that I am interested and want to get to know you all.  I take pride in telling my friends, family and others that I work with some of the best people in our area.  Thank you all for the time and support you give your unit and the Amangi District.  Our district committee is working to bring new leadership to the committee. The District Nominating Committee is looking at leaders in our district that can help plan quality program and events in our district.  It is time to start thinking about our District Banquet and recognizing our leaders for the hard work they provide.  If you know someone that deserves an award please contact Jim Bright at the council office so I can get that persons name to the committee.  Let's plan a great banquet to showcase our quality scouts and their leaders.
