Scouters,
Fall is passing us swiftly, and Winter is around the corner.  The fall Cub Scout Rallies are going well.  The District is now working on new Units and organizing new ones. Volunteers needing training contact Gerardo Martinez at  or call The Concho Valley Council office at (800) 321-7107.

Roundtables are held at the at the LDS Church 1315 Kings Way, Del Rio, Texas.  This training is always the first Thursday of every month don't miss out!  Thursday December 4, 2008 will be Amistad District Annual Christmas party at the Round Table.  Each person attending needs to bring a gift to exchange and pot luck plate, Happy Holidays.  The District meeting is held at the First United Methodist Church 100 Spring St. Del Rio, Texas.  These are every third Monday of each month.  Send a representative from your committee to this meeting.

George Pride is the District Popcorn Kernel.  Popcorn sales ended October 27, 2008.    Contact Gerardo Martinez or Council Office at above phone numbers for more information.  Scout master training is scheduled for 12-06-2008.  Boy Scout Troops need to get ready for the Winter Camp at Sol Mayer December 27 thru 31, 2008.  Call the office for more information.

The District Committee has moved the Amistad District Banquet to a new date.  The Council Calendar indicates the Banquet is 1-17-08.  The new date is 1-24-08.  This eliminates the conflict with OA Winter fellowship date.  The OA Fellowship is moved to 1-16 & 17, 2008.

Amistad District is ahead of the other Districts in $$$ FOS and Membership.  We will reach our goal Above and Beyond Two months ahead of schedule.   We are looking for more unit commissioners. Call Gerardo Martinez or George Pride if you want to help.  Re-charters will be available at the end of October.  I want to take this opportunity to thank all you fine volunteers for the outstanding job you are doing to make Scouting work.  THANK YOU!

AMISTAD DISTRICT WEBELOS WOODS
Webelos Woods is a chance for Troops to showcase their individual program to prospective Webelos to attract first and second year Webelos to your Troop.  The weekend will include many exciting outdoor  events for all participants.

Saturday, September 19  Webelos Woods was held at Camp Fawcett.  Pat Ramos was the event Chairman.  Twenty-two Webelos and Boy Scouts attended the activities.  Ten adults were leading the Scouts.  Thanks to the OA and Pat Ramos for staffing the event.  The boys learned Scout Skills.  There were camp games, a hike to Maddox Mound, fishing, and a Campfire program Saturday Night.  All had great time.
