Vacant District Positions: Currently the Permian Basin District has vacant the positions
of “District Chairman” and “District Commissioner”. It is with great regret
to say good-bye to our District Commissioner John Fluth, Pastor of the United
Methodist Church of Ozona. John and his family will be relocating to another
community where John will preach at the local Methodist Church.
It is also with great regret that The Permian
Basin must also say good-bye to its District Chairman, John Collis. John
Collis of Ozona with the Baptist Church has also relocated to assume a position
in another community. Thank you both for your support in Scouting and
for serving as the District Commissioner & District Chairman for the Permian
Basin. We wish you and your families the best.
RACE
TO SCOUTING! With
the start of the new school year right around the corner,
it is time to start scheduling Cub Scout and Boy Scout
Rallies. Every year the council makes available
to all Unit leaders materials (flyers, posters, post
cards, etc) to help maximize your Cub Scout & Boy
Scout recruiting efforts. The Council also makes
available for your use the District Executive to help
and assist Unit leaders with these rallies. It
is highly recommended that every unit select a “Race
to Scouting Chair” to help and assist in getting this
task accomplished.
What
are the responsibilities of the Race to Scouting Chair?
A
Race to Scouting Chair Recruits and Trains with the
support of the District Executive enough volunteers
to support the three aspects of the Fall Recruitment:
Cub Scout Race to Scouting Drive, Boy Scouts Troop
Open Houses, and Venturing Crew Open Houses.
It
is vital to every Unit to have a school rally at the
beginning of the school year. This is usually
the time that parents are picking and choosing from
a list of programs to put their children in. With
so many programs and opportunities
