CVC Receives Three Awards
The Concho Valley Council graciously accepted the Southern Region First Award, National Endowment Achievement Award and the Centennial Quality Council Award. The Southern Region First Award recognizes councils who have had the largest membership growth within their area of the region. The Centennial Quality Council Award is a national award that distinguishes councils who have demonstrated excellence with council programs, including exceptional outdoor facilities and outdoor program participation, growing youth membership and a commitment to the Scouting mission.
The Concho Valley Council's third recognition, the National Endowment Achievement Award, is presented to councils that have an active endowment committee and have reached one of the four levels of achievement. The award requires an active committee, recognition and cultivation of donors, proper stewardship and governance of endowment funds, and staff trained in planned giving techniques. "Last year marked a phenomenal milestone for the Concho Valley Council," says Patrick Wedding, Scout Executive for the Council. "Our staff and volunteers have gone beyond the calling, and really dedicated themselves to the mission of the Boy Scouts. I'm so very proud, and look forward to continued success for the greater good of our community."

Letter from the Scout Executive:
Dear Scouters,
Just over four years ago it became my highest honor and deepest privilege to begin serving as your Scout Executive. During that time, thousands of youth have joined this great movement, hundreds of you have stepped up to lead them and hundreds of thousands of dollars have been given to support your efforts.
Paddle boats for Cub Scouts and a Climbing wall for Boy Scouts have added to the allure of Camp Sol Mayer. Additionally, infrastructure upgrades to the water system, electrical supply, and kitchen have made the day to day operations of camp more cost effective. At Camp Fawcett, new campfire ring seating, picnic tables, a bridge and upgraded electrical supply now make for safer and more enjoyable weekends along the Nueces River. Technology has been added to the council office to assist the staff in serving youth, parents and volunteers in a more efficient manner.
But beyond all this are the good hearts and the great memories that abound all across these 23 ½ counties of southwest Texas. Those I will treasure always as I begin the next phase of my career on August 12th in Dallas.. Thank you for all you do for the youth we all serve. It is and will always be truly appreciated.
