Clay Bird Shoot Out –August 25th
Creek Service Inc. invites you to take part in the 9th Annual Boy Scout Shoot out Sporting Clay Invitational.  This event benefits youth through the programs of the Concho Valley Council, Boy Scout of America.  Bring your friends and clients. Smash clays. Tune up for dove season. Have a good time. And be a BIG help to young people across a 24 county area. The location is the San Angelo Clay Bird Association, 10 minutes west of San Angelo on US Highway 67.

The date and time is Saturday, August 25th, 2007 with registration starting at 7:00 a.m. The first rotation will begin at 8:00 a. m. and the second rotation will begin at 10:45 a.m.

The event is a fun shoot with 100 total sporting clays (“birds”) and may be shot by all competitors, registered or non-registered. There will be door prizes and individual entry gifts. There will be a 5-stand practice available ($5). There will also be silent and live auction items on display (including hunts at local ranches).

Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The meal will be sponsored and provided by Pack Saddle Bar-B-Que.

Also, a shopping spree from the Outdoorsman will be presented for each 10 shooters regardless of score. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN. We always plan for a sell-out, so pre-registration is suggested. In the event that registration is still open on Saturday morning, we will register shooters on a first come, first served basis. Please help us to better plan for this event by pre-registering.

Advancement Forms Required
Since the beginning of the Boy Scouts of America the recognition of youth members for their achievements has been a proven method of quality program delivery.  
The mastery of skills, service provided and leadership instilled are all reinforced by the presentation of various emblems and awards.  This in the minds of a vast majority of Americans is the iconic image of Scouting they hold near and dear to their hearts.

To this end the Boy Scouts of America has long established policies and procedures to assure the value of the award worn on the uniform of any member.  These include board of reviews, registration of merit badge counselors and the submission of Advancement Reports to record the progress of any badge of rank earned by every Cub Scout, Boy Scout or Venturer. The integrity of the advancement process, the self esteem of the deserving youth and that of the very insignia presented are protected in this manner.

Given this understanding, the Council Advancement Committee wishes to inform you that as of Monday October 1, 2007, no advancement awards will be sold or shipped without prior receipt of the supporting Advancement Report with appropriate signatures from the unit. This is not new but rather a date certain reminder of the long standing regulations of the Boy Scouts of America. Leader training courses and literature have long included this information.  

A letter reminding every unit in the council along with an original blank Advancement Report was mailed earlier this year. This form is also widely available on the internet and . . . . (continued on Page 11)
