CUB-DAD 2003

BUGS! BUGS! BUGS!  It’s going to be a Bug’s Life at this year’s CUB-DAD.  September 27-28 and October 4-5 are the dates set for this event and we are buzzing with excitement about the great time planned just for Cubbugs!  Besides the opportunity to explore Camp Sol Mayer and hang out with Dear Ole Dad, Cubbugs will be able to practice their poison sting attack by shooting bows and arrows at the archery range. BB gun target practice will test their bug eyesight. And what would a trip to camp be without a trip through the worm pit? There will even be a creature crawl on Saturday to find the fastest bug in camp. Don’t forget some of the other favorite camp pastimes like: catching grasshoppers to go fishing in the San Saba River, or horseshoes or washer tossing, and digging around for authentic artifacts., such as arrowheads or beads.  Or you can try your hand in the craft center creating a unique treasure that you can take home to Mom.

Registration is just $18 per person and includes a patch.  T-shirts are available for only $10 but you need to prepay by September 15th.  Extra t-shirts may not be available.  You can register as a Pack or as an individual but please pre-register before September 15th to ensure your place at this year’s Cub-Dad. Spaces are limited so make your reservation today.  For more information, or a list of what to bring, contact the Council Office at (325) 655-7107 or toll free at 1 (800) 321-7107. MOM ‘N ME 2004

If you have ever wondered what it would be like to see stars up close, learn about space, or want to build your own Space Derby racer then Mom ‘n Me is for you.  May 1- 2 and 8-9 are the dates for space shuttle Sol Mayer’s liftoff into the great unknown.  All Cub astronauts and their rocket commanders will experience an out of this world adventure.  The craft center will be the place to design and build your own space derby rocket and then you can test it out on our very own rocket launch facility.  Astronauts must undergo very physical training to qualify for flight status so spend some time at our moon base obstacle training pad to help develop your muscles to prepare for the hardships of space travel.

Bring your spacesuits to camp so we can add the necessary components for your launch and moon walk. Astronauts train in water to prepare for the weightlessness of space, so get ready to train at our aquatics center to prepare yourself.  There may be hostile life forms on the planet so make sure to attend the field sports training facility to qualify for laser (BB-guns) and particle emitter (Archery) practice.  Remember, the Scout you save may be you!!!

All of this and a patch for just $18 per person.  T-shirts are available for only $10 but you need to prepay by April 15th.  Extra t-shirts may not be available.  You can register as a Pack or as an individual but please pre-register before April 15th to ensure your place on our Rocket. Spaces are limited so make your reservation today. For more information contact the Council Office at (325) 655-7107 or toll free at   (800) 321-7107.  To infinity and beyond!!!

WINTER CAMP

For the first time in many years, the Concho Valley Council will offer a Winter Camp December 27-31.  This camp is designed to help Scouts work toward Eagle required merit badges. Most of the merit badges that are being offered are not offered at summer camp.  Since the Scouts are out of school this time of year the winter camp is designed to give him something fun and exciting to do over Christmas break.

The Winter Camp will be held at Camp Sol Mayer, which is located by Ft. McKavett.  Scouts are allowed to arrive and set up camp on December 26.   The check-in will be December 27 at 8am.  The first meal will be lunch that day.

The camp fee is $100.00 per Scout. The fee covers meals, program materials, insurance, and  the best part, a patch.  An advance registration fee of $25.00 must be into the Council Office by December 8th, with full payment in by December 22.

For more information please contact the Council Office at (800) 321-7107 or (325) 655-7107.  Our email address is bsa741@gte.net. Registration will also be available on our website: cvcbsa.com.
